This Nearpod experience will introduce basic anatomy and proportion of the human figure to students beginning figure drawing. The innate connection between art and science shows up again and again as a way to experience the world. This activity focuses on careful observation of the human form and discovery of anatomical structure that unlocks understanding of the structure and mechanics of the body. It also asks students to identify art based careers that may require this knowledge and to identify their own prior knowledge of the topic.
Visual Art Objective:
Students will use observation and documentation to understand the world around them.
Anatomy Objective:
The student will demonstrate an understanding of the anatomic and physiological
basis of life and the ability to explain the interdependence of structure and function in
biological systems.
Problem:
Students will participate in a series of exercises and reflections that increase their understanding of the proportion and function of the human form.
